Find Us at the Table: La Nostra Tavola Joins Instagram

We're building a new gathering place — and you're invited

By Elena Novak

A New Kind of Gathering

For months now, this table has been a place of words. Recipes, stories, histories — the long, slow conversations that unfold through sentences and paragraphs. It has been, in its own way, a kind of feast. But a table is not a table if no one new can pull up a chair.

So today, we’re happy to share this: La Nostra Tavola is coming to Instagram.

We’ll be at @lanostratavola — and yes, the name means exactly what you think it means. Our table. We’re setting it up in a new corner of the world, and we hope you’ll join us there.

What You’ll Find There

The Instagram table will be different from this one, but related — like the difference between a full Sunday lunch and an afternoon coffee with a friend. It will be lighter. More immediate. A place for the things that happen between the long essays.

You can expect:

Behind the table. The moments that don’t make it into the stories — the steam rising from a pot of cicoria on a cold morning, the way light falls across a farmer’s market in early spring, the hands of the woman making orecchiette in Bari Vecchia.

Seasonal snapshots. What we’re cooking, what we’re reading, what’s in season right now. A photo of carciofi violetti at the market. A short video of pasta being folded. A quick note about the wine we opened last night.

Stories in miniature. Some stories want to be told in a single image. The color of olive oil in a glass. The pattern of salt on a freshly baked loaf. The way a fisherman’s hands tell their own story without a single word.

Your table, too. We want to see where you eat, what you cook, who you share your meals with. Use #lanostratavola or tag us. Send us your questions about that tricky artichoke prep. Show us the wine you found. The table grows wider the more people sit at it.

What Won’t Change

This is not a pivot. The long-form stories — the deep dives into regional traditions, the recipes with their full context, the wine pairings and the histories — those will continue here, on this site, at the pace and length they deserve. Instagram is not a replacement. It is an invitation.

If you love the long reads, they will still be here. If you want something shorter and more immediate, the Instagram table will be waiting.

The Word We Keep Coming Back To

Tavola. Table. But also: board. Slab. The surface on which things happen.

In Italian, when you say mettere in tavola, you mean “to put food on the table.” But the phrase carries a deeper sense — the act of making something available, of offering, of hosting. Mettere in tavola is not just about serving dinner. It is about creating the conditions for a meal to become a memory.

That’s what we want to do here, there, everywhere. Create the conditions.

So come find us. Pull up a chair. The table is ready.
